Plans for this Semester

February 14, 2009

Bad news first. One don’t have funding this semester.

Good news. We’re still going to do amazing things this semester.  Think of this as an exercise in creative, recessionary problem solving.

In honor of the upcoming Mardi Gras celebrations, Hampshire Slow Food has decided to throw our own little bash. Come Tuesday, Feburary 24 , HSF will take over one of the house living room and serve traditional Mardi Gras cuisine.

This will be our big fund raising event for this semester. Hopefully there will be a great turn out and maybe a few new members. Each bowl of food will cost 3 dollars. Refills will be 1.50.  People will be advised to bring their own plates as we will only have a limited number available.  Our advertising blitz will begin next week. So, stay on the look out for annoucements on the web and posters on campus.

This will be a fun event with music, food and good friends. We hope to see you there.

Don’t know what’s in this season? Don’t know what to do with all that Kale? Slow Food is here to answer your questions. We wil explore together the multifaceted advantages of cooking seasonally with creative, relatively simple food that is warming for the soul, no matter the season.

We plan on executing at least two Food Demonstration showcasing the best the season has to offer. Recipes, tips and advice is always welcomed.

One of the two is Slow and the other is Fast. One is made with tender, loving care by a home cook. The other is made in a factory and defrosted and re-fried by a disgruntle teenager. With one you know all the ingredients that goes into it. The other is questionable. You guess. Which one would you rather have?

Hampshire Slow Food is asking that question and wants a response from you. We plan on doing a Slow and Fast Food cook off and seeing which one is preferred. Be let’s be honest. We’re a little bias here.

How about Dinner and a Movie?

Hampshire Slow Food plans on showcasing some of the best movies about food with some of the world’s greatest cuisine from the corresponding country.

These plans are tentative. We will add more. We will combine a few. Both hopefully, we’ll come up with equations for a wonderful semester.

As always, keep checking this blog for more detail about upcoming events.

Our emails is still slowfoodhampshire@gmail.com. Please email with advices, suggestions or just to say hello.

Join our facebook group if you haven’t already.

Keep warm!

Pardon that Lapse

December 10, 2008

Hey, sorry about the looooong time between posts. We were having technical difficulties.

Alright, the semester is winding down. Please remember to feed your bodies the best you can by caring about what you eat and where it comes from. During finals, it can be hard to find time to prepare a meal and sit down and enjoy it. We understand this. Just plllllease find a way to care for yourself as much as you care about your work. It matters!
